First EAC meeting of Fall 2009 Minutes

Environmental Awareness Club
Aug. 6, 2009

Present: Julia Knapp, Ben Knapp, Terrah Baker

NEW BUSINESS


  • Meetings- Tentatively planned for Tuesdays at 5 p.m. in the Union by room 306.
  • Meeting plans- Introduction, Reading of minutes, Reading of Agenda (whole list), Discussion, voting at end of meeting, and a Motion to end meeting.
  • Movie night- Will be held Thursday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Union (room to be announced). We will give away an organic chocolate bar and a stainless steel water bottle from the e-mail list. There will be an introduction presentation before the movie and a brief presentation about the subject following the movie.
  • Involvement Fair- We will need a table. We will be creating a poster board with photos and our mission statement. There will be a list of planned events. Fliers for Toxic Garbage Island will be available. And we will be handing out little aloes to the first 15 or 20 people who sign up on our e-mail listing as well as a display of plants.
  • Club Constitution- Final changes will be made at our next official meeting and then will be submitted to the Student Activities office along with our new meeting time.
  • 350.org Kick-off event- Ben will prepare a speech concerning the need for local farming and agriculture and how it somewhat relates to the carbon and methane emissions as well as addressing other environmental concerns. That is Aug. 28 at the Warrensburg Courthouse.
  • 350.0rg Event- Oct. 24 is the event and plans for our involvement will be made at a later date.
  • TO DO: Monday we will be painting the posterboard for the Involvement fair as well as planting our aloes. Ben: Write speech and request room for movie night. Julia: Take pictures of farmer's market and print them off on-line. Terrah: Take extra photos, print them on-line, call Garden Club for extra aloes, and finish final draft of Constitution for club consideration at next meeting.
